Aloha,
The state of Hawaii
has just received a share of Federal money for support of organic crop
producers in the state of Hawaii.
This money is earmarked for assistance in a certification cost-share
program. The state will reimburse 75% of organic certification cost up
to $750. That is a $250 increase over the last cap of $500.
The conditions for qualifying for this assistance are
that the
new applicant’s “Date of Entry” on the certificate,
or the renewal applicant’s “Updated Date” (anniversary),
must occur between October 01, 2008 and September 30, 2009.
A certificate “Date of Issue” is not applicable. This
program will be in effect for one year. GOCA has been assured that
there are enough funds for all applicants.
The form for application for this program is
available at www.hawaii.gov/hdoa
Go to the Ag Development Division and click on the “Organic
Certification Cost Share Program”. All applicants must complete
the “Application for Organic Certification Cost-Share
Assistance”.
In addition to this application, the applicant will
need to submit a copy of a GOCA invoice for certification, a copy of
your current certificate and a copy of a blank invoice with your
certified name and address. New applicants will need to complete the
W-9 form, however anybody that has received previous cost-share
assistance will not need to submit another W-9 form.
If you need any assistance from GOCA, please contact
me, Maile Sacarob, at (808) 323-3279.
Mahalo,
